Direct recycling can significantly reduce the use of chemical reagents and energy consumption, helping customers achieve more competitive carbon reduction targets while maintaining performance.
Huayou Recycling has independently developed a direct recycling process that differs from hydrometallurgical process. Direct Recycling bypasses the most energy-intensive and complex stages. Through precise thermal treatment and lithium replenishment processes, it restores crystal structures and recovers electrochemical performance while preserving the original framework of the material as much as possible — enabling the revitalization of battery materials through a more efficient and lower-carbon pathway.
Compared with traditional hydrometallurgical processes, Direct Recycling can shorten the overall process flow by approximately 2/3, reduce carbon emissions by more than 50%, achieve up to 30% cost optimization for cathode materials, with the potential to reduce overall battery cell costs by around 10%.
Today, the Direct Recycling materials are already being applied in energy storage systems (ESS) and light electric vehicle scenarios. Following market validation, the performance of some high-end product series has approached the level of virgin materials.
